Expedition Arctic Ski Touring

Join us for a unique experience: Ski touring from mountain hut to mountain hut in one of Europe's largest nature reserves.

As you arrive at each hut, you will be greeted by your hosts and welcomed into the warmth. Most cabins offer gas stove facilities, a comfortable fire, and dormitory rooms. After a day in the fresh air, you'll prepare a meal with your guide and enjoy it by the cheery fire. Then you'll get a good night's sleep before setting off again the next morning.

There's no need to bring a tent, cooking gear, or even a sleeping bag, and to make the trip even more pleasurable you will only have to carry simple necessary things in your bag. Food and equipment will be delivered to the huts in advance.

The sizes of the huts differ, as do the facilities they provide. However, one thing they all have in common is that, because they're in the middle of the wilderness, there is no running water or electricity. Water is brought in by bucket, and candles light up the cabin in the evening.

Some cabins have a sauna heated by the fire and some have a small shop where you can buy basics such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, drinks, and sweets.

This trip is not suitable for beginners and you will need to have had some previous experience and a reasonable level of fitness. Accompanied by a professional guide familiar with the weather conditions in Lapland, you will be in safe and experienced hands deep in Arctic territory.

Experience: For this mountain ski touring you should be in good condition and have experience with skiing. The distance between the mountain cabins varies from 10 to 22 km (6 to 14 mi). The difference in altitude on a single leg is a maximum of 350 meters (1,150 ft).
