What to Pack for Your Winter Holiday in Lapland

To enjoy any holiday abroad, it's good to dress appropriately for the climate. The material of the clothes you bring to Lapland is especially important to get the most out of your adventure holiday here.

Jeans and clothes made from cotton are NOT recommended for outdoor adventure tours and activities in Lapland because when they get wet they stay wet. We recommend polyester, silk, or wool to keep you snug and warm.

We suggest you bring the following basic equipment with you on your winter holiday:

  • Long-sleeved shirts (polyester)
  • Long underwear (silk or polyester)
  • A pair of fleece trousers
  • Fleece jumper and wool jumper (for Americans and Canadians, a jumper is a sweater)
  • Hat (windbreaker)
  • Scarf
  • Shelf jacket
  • Shelf trousers
  • Pair of socks (wool)
  • Pair of sock liners (polyester or wool)
  • Underwear – preferably polyester, not cotton
  • Sunglasses (UV protection – the sun is very strong at certain times of the year due to the reflection off the snow)
  • Goggles (If it snows you will need either goggles or sunglasses to protect you from the snow glare.)
  • Sunscreen (SPF 25 or higher)
  • Camera, film, and batteries.

Note: Batteries don't last as long in cold temperatures.
